Background

Based on the request from Vietnam, the plan for the development (expansion and reconstruction) of primary education facilities in 610 classrooms in 30 provinces has been implemented in 9 provinces through the implementation of the first, second and third plans funded by Japanese grant. However, 7 out of 16 provinces, which are considered to be the first priority areas of the plan, have not yet started the plan and urgently needed to be implemented. In order to improve the situation, the fourth round of grant assistance was requested to cover all seven provinces.

Project description

In this project, a total of 1,000 classrooms and educational equipment will be provided in 80 schools in 7 provinces: 6 provinces in the south of the central coastal region of Vietnam (Quang Nam Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Binh Thuan) and Quang Ninh province in the north of the country. All of the schools are located in typhoon-affected areas, and sufficient care has been taken to prevent strong winds and flooding. In order to maximize the number of classrooms, the school buildings will be simple two-story corridors in the shape of boards, and there will be no multipurpose rooms, which had been provided until the third plan.
